The Nabire Regency Government has officially introduced an innovative application called Sea Market for Economy Rakyat Unggul (SEMERU) at the Hall of the Regional Development Planning, Research, and Innovation Agency (Baperida) Office in Nabire on Thursday (2/7/2026). This platform is designed as a strategic project to modernize economic governance while serving as a concrete solution to address poverty challenges in coastal areas.

Deputy Regent of Nabire, Burhanudin Pawennari, revealed that despite the region being blessed with abundant marine wealth, fishing communities often have not enjoyed maximum economic benefits. The presence of the SEMERU application is expected to eliminate these obstacles by opening up wider market access, increasing the added value of fishery products, and strengthening the fishing business ecosystem through digital partnerships.

Furthermore, Burhanudin emphasized that this application is not just an administrative innovation on paper, but a real movement. He stressed the importance of cross-sector synergy, involving academics, the banking sector, business actors, and fishing communities, to ensure the economic ecosystem runs optimally from upstream to downstream.

The local government hopes that through solid collaboration and the utilization of technology, the SEMERU application can become a relevant public service model to be replicated across all coastal areas of Nabire Regency. This innovation was underscored as a strategic step to support the region's grand vision of achieving an independent, prosperous, and just Nabire community.
