The Velodrome Athletics Stadium in Rawamangun, East Jakarta, is preparing to witness the fighting spirit of young athletes in the 2026 Children with Special Needs (ABK) Fun Athletics Championship. The event, scheduled to take place on Saturday, July 4, 2026, will be attended by 120 participants from 18 institutions, including Special Schools (SLB), inclusive schools, and various disability communities.
This event is the result of a strategic collaboration between PT Petualang Berani Melangkah and the London School Beyond Academy (LSBA) under the auspices of the LSPR Institute of Communication and Business. This synergy also received full support from the Ministry of Youth and Sports, the Youth and Sports Agency, the DKI Jakarta Provincial Health Agency, and the State University of Jakarta.
In the championship, participants will compete in the 25, 50, and 100-meter running events. The competition is divided into several age categories, starting from the 13–16 years, 17–21 years, to 22 years and above groups. To ensure safety and comfort during the race, 27 volunteers have been prepared to accompany participants from the registration stage to the award presentation.
More than just a speed competition, this championship is designed as an inclusive space to increase the self-confidence and independence of children with special needs. Director of LSBA, Dr. Chrisdina Wempi, M.Si., emphasized that sports are a crucial instrument in building social skills and proving that every individual has the same right to achieve success.
This event is expected to be a catalyst for the sustainable growth of a disability-friendly sports culture in Indonesia. This cross-sector synergy aims not only to provide competition experience for children but also to inspire the wider public to care more about creating an inclusive ecosystem for people with disabilities in the future.
