The government together with the private sector continues striving to accelerate entrepreneurial growth in the country. One strategic step currently taken is the launch of the 17th Diplomat Success Challenge (DSC) program, offering grants worth IDR 2.5 billion to selected business founders.
Minister of MSMEs of the Republic of Indonesia, Maman Abdurrahman, expressed his support for this initiative. According to him, collaboration between the government and the private sector is crucial in producing a new generation of entrepreneurs. The program is viewed as a strategic partner to foster a broader entrepreneurial ecosystem to address national job creation challenges.
President Director of PT Wismilak Inti Makmur, Ronald Walla, explained that in its 17th edition, DSC has evolved into 'Founders’ Arena'. This approach prioritizes the 3P values: Paham (Understanding), Piawai (Skilled), and Persona (Character). The program does not merely focus on business proposals, but rather seeks entrepreneurs with strong character capable of sustainable growth.
The need for new entrepreneurs in Indonesia is currently a national urgency, given that Indonesia's entrepreneurship ratio of 3.43 percent still lags behind neighboring countries such as Malaysia and Thailand. On the other hand, approximately 2.9 million people enter the working-age population each year requiring job opportunities.
Chairperson of Apindo, Shinta Widjaja Kamdani, also highlighted the important role of MSMEs, which currently absorb 97 percent of the national workforce. Apindo is committed to assisting MSME actors to upgrade, expand domestic market access, and penetrate global markets through networks built within their business ecosystem.
For young entrepreneurs interested in participating in the selection for business funding and development, official registration is open until October 9, 2026. The program is expected to serve as a catalyst for new innovations that make tangible contributions to Indonesia's economy.
