Acting Mayor of Palembang, Ratu Dewa, has high hopes for Generation Z in his region to develop a growing passion for badminton. He stated this as a concrete effort to produce talented young athletes who can bring pride to the region in the future.
Ratu Dewa made these remarks while attending the closing ceremony of the 2026 South Sumatra Police Chief Cup VI Badminton Championship, held at the Drs. Warsito Badminton Hall, PAKRI Complex, Palembang, on Friday night (10/7/2026). The event was also attended by the South Sumatra Police Chief, Inspector General Dr. Sandi Nugroho, along with officials from the Palembang City Government.
According to Ratu Dewa, amidst the rapid development of information technology, sports play a crucial role in shaping a resilient character among the youth. He urged teenagers to wisely utilize easy access to information in the digital era to learn more effective training techniques to achieve success in the sports arena.
Furthermore, Ratu Dewa expressed high appreciation for the competitive spirit displayed by young athletes throughout the tournament. He hopes that the Kapolda Sumsel Cup VI event will serve as a strong stimulus to foster broader public interest in badminton.
This annual tournament is expected not to be a mere competition, but to remain sustainable as a platform for nurturing and scouting potential young athletes.
