The Lampung Regional Police (Polda Lampung) have taken preventive measures in response to increased volcanic activity at Mount Anak Krakatau (GAK). Following the designation of Level III (Alert) status, the police have installed a number of advisory boards at various strategic points across South Lampung.
The installation of these warning signs was carried out extensively at main access locations, including Canti Pier, the Kalianda coastal area, Bom Fishery Pier, and areas directly adjacent to the volcano zone. This measure aims to ensure that safety messages are clearly conveyed to residents, tourists, and maritime transport operators.
Head of Public Relations for the Lampung Police, Senior Commissioner Yuni Iswandari, emphasized that this policy is a crucial mitigation effort to minimize risks for people operating in the waters around the Sunda Strait. Authorities are prioritizing public safety by restricting movement within the radius deemed hazardous while the volcano remains on high alert status.
In addition to visual warnings, the Lampung Police are strengthening collaboration with the All Indonesian Fishermen's Association (HNSI). This synergy focuses on disseminating the latest information regarding volcanic activity to fishermen so they refrain from sailing into restricted zones designated by volcanology authorities.
Moving forward, the Lampung Police assured they will continue to monitor the situation and carry out ongoing public outreach along the coast. Residents and tourists are urged to comply with official directives to prevent unexpected dangers until authorities declare Mount Anak Krakatau safe for access once again.
