School of Business and Management, Institut Teknologi Bandung (SBM ITB) officially introduced the Sustainable Business Institute during a press conference at the MBA ITB Building, Bandung, on Monday (7/6/2026). This strategic initiative is designed to strengthen the role of higher education institutions in delivering a tangible impact on the business ecosystem, government, and the broader community.
Dean of SBM ITB, Prof. Dr. Aurik Gustomo, S.T., M.T., emphasized that this step aligns with SBM ITB's vision to build an international-standard academic environment. This is evidenced by the growing interest of international students, targeted to reach 400 people this year, as well as the involvement of 15 international professors who enrich the educational curriculum at SBM ITB.
Furthermore, the Sustainable Business Institute focuses on integrating the spirit of "Impactful SBM" through a more practical implementation of the higher education tridharma. Various initiatives have already been executed, ranging from mentoring MSME digitalization around the Cirata Floating Solar Power Plant area, developing the Social Forestry program in Garut, to strengthening the local economy at Cihapit Market. These programs are designed to meet real community needs through a collaborative and sustainable approach.
Dedy Sushandoyo, Ph.D., in charge of Thought Leadership, emphasized that the entrepreneurial business DNA at SBM ITB is not merely theory. Higher education institutions are required to produce relevant research and be brave in taking risks to create added value for stakeholders. Echoing this sentiment, Anggara Wisesa highlighted that social impact must be measurable so that the synergy between education, research, and community service yields multiplied benefits.
Through an ecosystem comprising various programs such as The Greater Hub, Teras Hijau Project, and Sabisa, SBM ITB now positions itself as a catalyst for socio-economic change. By prioritizing practical, research-based solutions, this institute strives to ensure that every academic contribution empowers communities and strengthens local economic resilience in the long term.
