The Lampung Regional Police have taken preventive measures by installing warning boards at several strategic points in the coastal area of South Lampung Regency. This policy was adopted in response to the increased volcanic activity of Mount Anak Krakatau (GAK) to ensure the safety of communities around the Sunda Strait.
The warning signs have now been installed in the Mount Anak Krakatau area, Canti Pier, and Bom Kalianda Fishing Pier. These locations were chosen as they serve as the main access points for tourists and marine sector operators who frequently conduct activities in the zones affected by the volcanic activity.
The Head of Public Relations of the Lampung Regional Police, Police Commissioner Yuni Iswandari Yuyun, explained that this step is a form of police support for the recommendations of the volcanology authorities. She emphasized the importance of complying with the designated safe radius limits to avoid unwanted risks for both residents and visitors.
In an effort to expand the reach of this information, the police have also established intensive communication with the All Indonesia Fishermen Association (HNSI). This collaboration aims to ensure that safety warnings are effectively conveyed to fishermen at sea, so they remain vigilant and do not approach the restricted area during the monitoring period.
The Lampung Regional Police will ensure that continuous socialization and monitoring of the situation in the coastal area will proceed. Public, fishermen, and tourists are urged to continue following official updates from the government until the status of Mount Anak Krakatau's activity is declared safe again by the authorities.
