Weqaya emphasized the importance for prospective pilgrims to monitor the current epidemiological situation in their country of origin and transit areas before departure. The main focus is placed on the obligation to meet vaccination requirements, especially the yellow fever vaccine for those coming from or transiting through endemic zones. Fulfilling these health procedures is an absolute prerequisite to ensure the safety of pilgrims while in the Holy Land.
In addition to vaccination, the authorities highlighted various disease transmission characteristics, ranging from Hantavirus associated with rodent-contaminated environments, to the risk of infection through contact with bodily fluids and mosquito transmission. Pilgrims are urged to maintain personal hygiene, wash their hands regularly, and avoid direct contact with people showing symptoms of illness or wild animals.
As an additional self-protection measure, pilgrims are advised to use mosquito repellent and wear protective clothing to prevent insect bites. Holding comprehensive health insurance is also recommended to anticipate urgent medical needs during the pilgrimage.
