Taman Mini Indonesia Indah (TMII) bore silent witness to the excitement of the Bhinneka Run 2026, which took place on Saturday (4/7/2026). Carrying the theme "Different Stories, One Finish Line", this running event successfully attracted the enthusiasm of 3,500 participants from various backgrounds, ethnicities, and professions, uniting in the spirit of nationalism.
Rahayu Saraswati, the event's initiator, emphasized that the Bhinneka Run is not just a running competition, but an effective medium to celebrate Indonesia's diversity. At the finish line, all differences melted into a single community that highly values health and unity.
Minister of Youth and Sports (Menpora) Erick Thohir, who personally flagged off the participants alongside Deputy Minister of Youth and Sports Taufik Hidayat, highlighted the importance of maintaining the foundation of Bhinneka Tunggal Ika. According to him, amidst global challenges and conflicts affecting various countries, Indonesia is able to demonstrate solidarity that must be preserved by the younger generation.
In addition to the fitness aspect, the event was filled with a social mission. The committee converted a portion of the registration fees into book donations to support children's literacy, as well as providing nutritional aid in the form of fruit and milk. The presence of participants with disabilities who took part using wheelchairs further reinforced the organizers' commitment to inclusive sports accessibility.
The Ministry of Youth and Sports (Kemenpora) expressed its support for the career sustainability of disabled athletes, whose numbers are increasingly active. This step is in line with the government's efforts post-Asian Games 2018 to continue providing public facilities that are friendly to all layers of society.
The event concluded with the presentation of awards to winners of various competitive categories, as well as the distribution of various attractive door prizes, including an electric car as the grand prize. The success of this year's event is a sweet note for the committee, which is committed to bringing even bigger surprises in future editions.
