The National Civil Service Agency (BKN) has taken a progressive step by integrating artificial intelligence technology into the entire recruitment system for the State Civil Apparatus (ASN) starting July 2026. This strategic initiative is designed as a systematic effort to break the chain of nepotism practices that have long compromised the integrity of the civil service selection process.
The new system prioritizes objectivity through automated assessment methods that minimize human bias at every selection stage. The entire sequence of processes, from administrative document verification and competency exams to interview sessions, is now digitally documented. This measure ensures that every stage can be transparently audited, while addressing public concerns regarding the objectivity of selection for highly competent candidates.
Beyond transforming the recruitment system, BKN is also strengthening performance monitoring through digital attendance tracking technology. The implementation of stricter discipline has yielded tangible results, leading to the dismissal of 128 civil servants for proven disciplinary infractions related to unexcused absences.
This digitization of the bureaucracy is projected to have a significant impact on the national economy by enhancing the efficiency of public services. With a cleaner and more professional bureaucracy, investor confidence in the domestic ecosystem is expected to rise, aligning with the positive trend of the digital economy's contribution to Indonesia's Gross Domestic Product.
