PT Bank Syariah Indonesia Tbk (BSI) recorded a brilliant achievement in expanding its gold business amid global economic uncertainty. Until the first half of 2026, the largest Islamic bank in Indonesia successfully managed 8.06 tons of gold trade transactions through its bullion bank services, with a customer base that has now surpassed 1.3 million people.
This surge in public interest is reflected in the growth of bullion service customers, which soared by 700 percent year-on-year (YoY). This significant increase directly boosted the fee-based income (FBI) from BSI's gold business sector, which recorded an extraordinary growth of 712 percent compared to the same period last year.
This success cannot be separated from the ease of access offered by BSI through the BYOND by BSI digital platform. Through the application, the public can invest in gold with very affordable amounts, starting from just IDR 50,000. The flexibility of real-time transactions for a full 24 hours is the main attraction for retail investors from various backgrounds.
In addition to strengthening the digital ecosystem, BSI is also expanding its physical distribution wings through the BSI Gold network. This service is now present in various official partner gold shops scattered across national gold trading centers. This strategic step aims to bring physical investment services closer to the wider community throughout the country.
BSI Finance and Strategy Director, Ade Cahyo Nugroho, revealed that amid current economic dynamics, gold remains a favorite choice for the public as a safe haven asset to protect the value of their wealth. The bullion service presented by BSI is designed to make this precious metal investment safer, more inclusive, and easily accessible to all levels of society for long-term financial planning.
BSI's gold financing portfolio, which includes gold pawning and gold installment services, reached IDR 30.5 trillion as of June 2026, or grew by 80.50 percent. Meanwhile, the total contribution of the gold business to the company's fee-based income touched IDR 2.10 trillion until July 2026. This figure reflects 100 percent YoY growth and solidifies gold's position as the main driver of BSI's financial performance growth.
