BPJS Kesehatan reported significant achievements in the implementation of the National Health Insurance (JKN) program throughout 2025. By the end of the year, the number of registered participants reached 282.7 million people, covering 98.62 percent of Indonesia's total population. This figure marks a major step in ensuring equitable healthcare access across all corners of the nation.
The President Director of BPJS Kesehatan, Prihati Pujowaskito, during a public presentation in Jakarta, emphasized that JKN has now transformed into a crucial foundation for building a productive human resource base. Throughout 2025, more than 725.3 million healthcare service utilizations were recorded, with a daily average reaching 1.9 million visits. This reflects high public trust in the accessibility of healthcare facilities affiliated with the program.
To keep pace with the surge in participants, BPJS Kesehatan continues to expand its strategic partnerships. To date, 23,770 Primary Healthcare Facilities (FKTP), 3,194 Advanced Referral Healthcare Facilities (FKRTL), and 6,190 supporting healthcare facilities have been integrated into the JKN service network. In addition, the optimization of digital transformation through Mobile JKN and the PANDAWA channel has made it easier for the public to access administrative services.
In terms of financial governance, BPJS Kesehatan once again demonstrated positive performance by achieving an Unmodified Opinion (WTM) for the 12th consecutive time. The net assets of the Healthcare Social Security Fund (DJS) were recorded at IDR 30.04 trillion, supported by investment yields of IDR 3.94 trillion. Management stated that fund management is conducted prudently to guarantee long-term operational sustainability.
Beyond healthcare aspects, the JKN program has also proven to have a broad economic impact. According to research by LPEM FEB UI, the program's presence has increased national Gross Domestic Product (GDP) by up to IDR 129 trillion and contributed to the creation of 3.5 million jobs. Furthermore, JKN plays a key role as a crucial social safety net, protecting approximately 16 million Indonesians from the risk of poverty due to high medical expenses.
