BPJS Kesehatan has officially strengthened its strategic collaboration with the Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) to enhance the integrity and governance of the National Health Insurance (JKN) Program. This step was taken as an effort to mitigate potential fraudulent practices that could threaten the sustainability of trust funds belonging to more than 285 million JKN participants across Indonesia.
President Director of BPJS Kesehatan, Prihati Pujowaskito, emphasized that as membership coverage has reached 98 percent of the population, the demand for a solid supervision system has become increasingly urgent. According to him, managing such large funds requires high standards of accountability to maintain public trust and ensure healthcare benefits are optimally delivered to the community.
As a concrete commitment, BPJS Kesehatan has implemented various internal control mechanisms, including the ISO 37001-based Anti-Bribery Management System (SMAP) and a Whistle Blowing System (WBS). In addition, strengthening has been extended to partner healthcare facilities through cooperation agreements that strictly prohibit all forms of irregularities in medical services.
Chairman of the KPK, Setyo Budiyanto, expressed appreciation for BPJS Kesehatan's transformative steps, particularly regarding the use of digital technology, which is considered capable of minimizing corruption loopholes. Setyo emphasized that digitizing services is not merely a convenience for participants, but a vital instrument for transparent administrative supervision.
This ongoing collaboration includes strengthening fraud prevention teams at the central level as well as intensive coordination in handling cases indicated to violate the law. The synergy between the health insurance agency and law enforcement authorities is expected to serve as a strong foundation to protect the national health ecosystem from the threat of abuse of authority.
