The Indonesian Journalists Association (PWI) contingent of Bulungan Regency delivered an impressive performance at the 2026 North Kalimantan Regional Journalists Sports Week (PORWADA) II held in Nunukan Regency. In their official debut as a definitive organization, journalists from Bulungan successfully brought home a total of 22 medals.
This achievement placed the Bulungan contingent in third position in the final medal standings. In detail, the team successfully secured 2 gold, 6 silver, and 14 bronze medals across nine contested sports branches, ranging from futsal to e-sports.
The Chairman of PWI Bulungan, Fathu Rizqil Mufid, stated that this success serves as a historic milestone for the organization. He explained that although Bulungan athletes had participated in the first edition in Tarakan, this participation was the first under the official management of the newly established PWI chapter.
“This achievement is proof that Bulungan journalists are capable of competing at a high level across various events. This success is not limited to just one sport, but is evenly distributed across all participating branches, both team and individual,” Fathu said on Wednesday (8/7/2026).
The two gold medals for the Bulungan contingent were contributed by Martinus Nampur in athletics, as well as the pair Norjannah and Rika Natalia in women's doubles badminton. Fathu hopes that this positive milestone will serve as an encouragement for athletes to continue refining their skills in preparation for the 2027 National Journalists Sports Week (PORWANAS).
