The Banjar Regency Government, through the Public Works, Spatial Planning, and Land Agency (PUPR), has taken concrete steps to end the clean water crisis that has plagued the people of Gunung Batu Village, Sambung Makmur District, for the past seven decades. Two technical divisions from the agency went directly to the field to oversee the accelerated construction of raw water sources and prepare the piping network scheme long awaited by residents.
During the inspection, the Raw Water Source Division inspected the construction of the retention basin embankment in Gunung Pandan Hamlet. This step aims to ensure that the quality and technical specifications of the work align with targets, so the facility can serve as a reliable water reserve for residents, especially during prolonged dry seasons.
In parallel, the Clean Water Division is finalizing the piping network planning, which will utilize the retention basin as its main source. This program represents a beacon of hope for local residents who have long struggled to access decent and stable clean water services. The presence of this infrastructure is projected to bring positive impacts on health, environmental hygiene, and the enhancement of economic activities for the village community.
Head of Gunung Batu Village, M. Albilaluddin, expressed high appreciation for the intensive cross-sectoral collaboration established by the Banjar Regency Government. Beyond involving regional agencies, coordination has also been expanded to the provincial and ministry hall levels to ensure program sustainability. This synergy is expected to become a strong foundation for ensuring equal access to basic services for all communities in Banjar Regency.
