Secretary-General of the Ministry of Religious Affairs (Kemenag) of the Republic of Indonesia, Kamaruddin Amin, emphasized that the 4th Eastern Indonesia Sports, Research, and Art Ornaments Week (Poros Intim) in 2026 is not merely a routine competition. Beyond that, the event serves as a strategic instrument for State Islamic Higher Education Institutions (PTKIN) to educate the public on the importance of health literacy within academic environments.
In his opening remarks at the UIN Datokarama Campus in Palu on Monday (7/6) evening, Kamaruddin stressed that intellectual and spiritual intelligence must be supported by physical fitness. According to him, good health literacy reflects a nation's progress, placing a great responsibility on higher education institutions to set a real example in adopting healthy lifestyles.
Kamaruddin reminded the audience that the body is a gift that must be maintained as humanity's primary asset. Therefore, sports should no longer be viewed merely as a hobby or a formality, but as a fundamental need that must be integrated into daily life to support productivity.
Echoing these sentiments, the Governor of Central Sulawesi, Anwar Hafid, appreciated UIN Datokarama's role in uniting the younger generation through this event. For him, Poros Intim serves as a platform for nurturing human resources that are not only competitively superior, but also possess strong integrity, discipline, and ethics.
Anwar hoped this momentum would birth future leaders who are characteristically strong and humble. He emphasized that PTKIN students are crucial pillars in nation-building who must continue to foster the spirit of unity amidst diversity.
The 4th Poros Intim event is scheduled to take place over five days, from July 6 to 11, 2026, in Palu City. The event is attended by at least 500 participants representing delegations from various PTKINs across Eastern Indonesia, ranging from West Nusa Tenggara, Sulawesi, Maluku, North Maluku, to Papua.
