Jakarta bore witness to the strengthening of the regional digital economy ecosystem through the hosting of the Japan-ASEAN Startup Business Matching Fair 2026. This event brought together dozens of Indonesian startups with investors and major corporations from Japan to unlock opportunities for larger-scale cross-border business collaboration.

PT Bank Danamon Indonesia Tbk (Danamon) played a central role in this event as the main facilitator. As part of the MUFG Global Network initiative, Danamon is committed to opening up international market access for local startup players, enabling them to compete on the global stage. This strategic move was formalized through the signing of a Letter of Intent (LoI) involving the Ministry of Communication and Digital, Danamon, and banking entities within the MUFG network.

Tangible support for innovation development was also realized through the MUIP Garuda Fund, with a total funding commitment of USD 100 million. This managed fund is focused on the technology and financial services (fintech) sectors to ensure native startups receive capital support as well as the right strategic partners at the regional scale.

Chief Strategy Officer of PT Bank Danamon Indonesia Tbk, Reza Iskandar Sardjono, emphasized that connectivity is key to startup business sustainability. According to him, participating in the forum—which facilitated more than 500 business matching sessions—is a concrete effort to bridge the gap between local innovators and global venture capital.

More than 90 startups from various countries participated in a series of activities ranging from pitching sessions and tech exhibitions to in-depth discussions on investment trends. This synergy is expected to serve as a stepping stone for Indonesian startups to expand their operational reach while sustainably accelerating national digital economic growth.
