Samudra University (Unsam) has taken concrete steps to strengthen Aceh's agribusiness sector through a strategic partnership with PT Razma Agro Jayana. Formalized through the signing of a Memorandum of Agreement (MoA) in Banda Aceh, this synergy aims to integrate the university's academic expertise with real-world needs in the essential oil industry.
In this collaboration, Unsam positions itself as a business incubator providing intensive technical guidance to partner farmers. The primary focus of the support includes mastering modern cultivation techniques, industry-standard post-harvest management, and applying agronomic technology to produce export-quality patchouli oil.
Vice Rector for Student Affairs, Cooperation, and Public Relations at Unsam, Dr. Ir. Nasruddin, S.T., M.T., emphasized that this initiative represents the downstreaming of research to support the regional economy. Through technology transfer and field supervision, farmers are expected to boost productivity while meeting supply chain standards set by the manufacturing company.
PT Razma Agro Jayana itself is known for its sustainable patchouli development system titled 'Razma D-Clone'. Unsam's involvement through this program is expected to optimize the entire patchouli value chain, from the farmer level to developing cluster-based MSME models that are more competitive nationally and internationally.
This collaboration not only aims to increase product added value but also serves as tangible proof of the implementation of higher education's three pillars. By combining academic innovation and industrial practice, Unsam strives to build a sustainable agricultural ecosystem to improve farmer welfare in the Aceh region.
