Head of the National Narcotics Board of Indonesia (BNN RI), Police Commissioner General Suyudi Ario Seto, emphasized the vital role of physical activity and sports as crucial instruments in shaping the discipline and integrity of state apparatuses. According to him, mental and physical resilience trained through sports serves as the main foundation in fortifying oneself against the threat of drug abuse.
Speaking in his capacity as patron of the National Police Basketball Executive Board, Police Commissioner General Suyudi Ario Seto highlighted the philosophical values of basketball, such as teamwork and quick response, which are deemed relevant to public service duties. These values, he noted, must be possessed by every state apparatus to build solid synergy in the field.
This support was demonstrated through the opening of the 2026 National Police Chief Cup Basketball Tournament, which is part of the 80th Bhayangkara Day anniversary series. The competition is one of nine sports branches featured in this year's National Police Sports Week, involving participants from various government agencies, communities, and students.
More than just a showcase of physical ability, this tournament is seen as a strategic space to strengthen coordination and brotherhood across ministries and institutions. Through high sportsmanship, state apparatuses are expected to build a more harmonious collaboration in supporting the effectiveness of public services.
The tournament, running from July 1 to July 14, 2026, features 5-on-5 and 3x3 categories. The high enthusiasm of the participants is clear evidence that the spirit of togetherness and a healthy lifestyle can serve as effective means to achieve a resilient environment free from the influence of narcotics.
