General Chair of the Advisory Board of the Central Board of Muslimat Nahdlatul Ulama (NU), Khofifah Indar Parawansa, emphasized the urgency of adapting da'wah methods in the modern era. During the Silahturrahim Hidmat & IHM Muslimat NU East Java event in Batu City, Khofifah called on preachers to shift from conventional patterns toward a more massive adoption of digital technology.
According to Khofifah, the digital format allows religious messages to be accessed anytime and anywhere without being bound by geographical barriers. She highlighted the importance of this digital 'hijrah' step so that da'wah remains relevant to changing times, reflecting on the readiness of Muslimat NU members who have actually begun adapting since the COVID-19 pandemic.
Furthermore, Khofifah encouraged enhancing preachers' capacity to create content innovations, such as using cartoon visual formats for children's education. This is considered crucial to capturing the interest of Generation Z through a fresher linguistic approach and topics close to their life realities, such as self-development and career motivation.
Responding to the rapid development of Artificial Intelligence (AI), Khofifah views the technology as a tool that can boost productivity if used wisely. She reminded preachers to remain vigilant and not use technology to spread hoaxes or content that degrades human dignity.
The use of AI, she added, must still be grounded in the principles of truth and the benefit of the community. With proper mastery of technology, she is optimistic that Muslimat NU can bridge the intergenerational communication gap and expand the reach of da'wah more inclusively.
