The Head of the State-Owned Enterprises Regulatory Agency (BP BUMN) and Chief Operating Officer of Danantara Indonesia, Dony Oskaria, emphasized the urgency of strengthening business fundamentals for state-owned banks. This step is considered crucial to ensure that state-owned banking entities remain healthy, competitive, and resilient in responding to global and domestic economic fluctuations.
Dony made the statement following a strategic meeting with the board of directors of PT Bank Negara Indonesia (Persero) Tbk (BNI) on Friday (3/7/2026). During the discussion, both parties evaluated the company's performance and designed a roadmap for more aggressive corporate actions in the future.
The main focus of this fundamental strengthening is increasing business capacity by expanding financing coverage to productive sectors. Dony emphasized that sustainable growth can only be achieved if the banking sector is able to maintain internal stability and optimize synergies within the SOE ecosystem.
Furthermore, Dony revealed that the SOE Regulatory Agency, together with Danantara Indonesia, is committed to continuing to oversee the transformation of state-owned banks. This aims to enable BNI and other financial institutions to make a more significant contribution to national development while creating real added value for the public.
