The Village Government of South Sangatta, East Kutai Regency, remains committed to advancing the sports sector in its area. This step was taken as part of concrete efforts to foster a physically healthy young generation while nurturing promising local and national athletic talent.
The Head of South Sangatta Village, Muhajir, emphasized the importance of providing adequate facilities to accommodate the sporting interests and talents of local residents. According to him, the great potential possessed by the village's youth will not develop to its maximum without supporting infrastructure representative of the village government's commitment.
One of the main facilities that residents can now enjoy free of charge is the mini soccer sports field. The facility, which was completed in 2021, initially required a cleaning fee of Rp50,000 during its early operations. However, this fee policy has now been completely abolished in order to provide the best service to the wider community.
In addition to mini soccer, South Sangatta residents also utilize the conventional football field facility in the Kilometer 4 area, which is a granted asset from PT Pertamina. Nevertheless, the village government hopes that in the future, a stadium or a much more representative football field can be built to accommodate the high enthusiasm of the residents.
Muhajir added that the availability of decent public sports spaces is crucial amid the community's growing interest in physical activities. With adequate facilities, the South Sangatta Village Government is optimistic that the young generation will have a positive outlet to develop their potential and steer them away from negative activities.
