The Ministry of Hajj and Umrah officially presented the initial evaluation report regarding the organization of the 1447 AH/2026 Hajj pilgrimage. Although the pilgrimage rituals were generally claimed to have run smoothly, the government acknowledged that several crucial notes still require systemic improvements to enhance the quality of service for pilgrims in the future.
During a working meeting with Commission VIII of the Indonesian House of Representatives (DPR RI) on Tuesday (7/7/2026), Minister of Hajj and Umrah Mochamad Irfan Yusuf emphasized his ministry's commitment to taking follow-up actions. The main focus is directed at strengthening governance and refining Hajj operational management to minimize field obstacles.
The evaluation results revealed several technical issues, particularly in the accommodation sector. Irfan highlighted discrepancies between hotel room capacities and the number of pilgrims, as well as reports of damage to vital facilities such as elevators and utility disruptions. Additionally, the issue of pilgrims being placed separately from their families or companions received special attention and will be addressed promptly.
Serious concerns were also raised regarding conditions in Mina during the peak of the Hajj pilgrimage. High density in the tent area resulted in limited rest space for pilgrims, leaving many without proper comfort. This evaluation serves as a foundation for the government to formulate more effective solutions before entering next year's Hajj season.
