The Innovation and Creativity Hub (GIK) of Universitas Gadjah Mada (UGM), in collaboration with the Gadjah Mada Law Alumni Association (Kahgama), has officially announced the Run'n Shine event, scheduled to take place on September 18–20, 2026, in Yogyakarta. The event is designed as a platform for the community to celebrate physical health while appreciating local art and cultural values.
Carrying the unique concept of 'Olah Raga dan Olah Rasa' (Sporty & Artsy), this activity integrates a multisensory experience involving community engagement through music elements and the rich culinary heritage of Yogyakarta. This initiative is a continuous effort following the success of a similar event in 2025, which attracted more than 2,400 participants.
Run'n Shine 2026 offers 5K and 10K running categories with routes specifically designed through a five-element approach to the city's identity: Campus, Community, Palace (Keraton), Village (Kampung), and Corporate. Race Director Roostian explained that the route was designed to allow runners to enjoy reflections of Yogyakarta's iconic landscape, ranging from the educational district to the daily public spaces of the residents.
As a form of dedication to creative collaboration, the committee partnered with local artists to design exclusive jerseys and medals that blend traditional cultural symbols with contemporary style. The design, titled 'Shine Beats', serves as a marker that Yogyakarta's cultural roots remain relevant and adaptable to modern lifestyles.
Head of Program Experience at GIK UGM, Gilang, stated that this event aims to create a balance between physical activity and inner peace. Echoing this sentiment, Director of Sedekat Imaji Rupa, Galih Satrio, emphasized the importance of harmoniously nurturing both body and mind, where art and sports can walk hand in hand in a complete space of celebration.
