The Provincial Community Sports Festival (Forprov) II of the Indonesian Community Sports Committee (KORMI) of West Kalimantan was officially held in Singkawang City. The event, centered at the Singkawang City Mess Daerah (Regional Guest House), serves as a strategic platform to promote an active lifestyle while strengthening brotherhood among residents of various regencies and cities in the province.
West Kalimantan Governor, Ria Norsan, in his opening remarks on Sunday (5/7/2026), emphasized that the main essence of this event goes beyond just winning titles. He invited all contingents to prioritize sportsmanship, joy, and solidarity in every activity they participate in.
"Compete by upholding sportsmanship. Our main focus is to build community togetherness and health. Winning is not everything; what matters most is how this event can strengthen our unity and solidarity as one big family in West Kalimantan," said Governor Ria Norsan in front of regional heads and invited guests.
The excitement of the opening was further felt when the Regional Secretary of West Kalimantan Province, who also serves as the Chairman of KORMI West Kalimantan, flagged off the contingent parade from all regencies/cities. The parade, which passed through the main streets of Singkawang City, became a strong symbol of the spirit of collaboration and community enthusiasm in supporting a culture of sports.
Through the holding of Forprov II KORMI in 2026, the provincial government hopes that the public will be increasingly inspired to make sports an integral part of their daily routine. Apart from success in sportsmanship, this event is also expected to have a positive impact on the social sector and strengthen relations between regions in West Kalimantan.
