Volcanic activity at Mount Semeru showed another increase on Monday (29/6/2026). According to a report from the Center for Volcanology and Geological Hazard Mitigation (PVMBG), the highest mountain on Java Island experienced an eruption that spewed volcanic ash to a height of 1.2 kilometers above the summit.
The eruption not only produced an ash column but was also accompanied by moderate booms heard around the slope area. This phenomenon was recorded on Monday afternoon as part of the volcano's ongoing routine volcanic activity.
Authorities continue to closely monitor the seismic and visual activity of Mount Semeru. Residents in disaster-prone areas are urged to remain calm yet vigilant, and to adhere to safe zone recommendations established by relevant authorities to anticipate potential further hazards.
