Connecting the medical and fashion worlds, Bai’atu Izza (24), a student of the Bachelor of Nursing program at Universitas Muhammadiyah Kudus (UMKU), has proven that the boundaries of academic disciplines are no barrier to entrepreneurship. She has successfully founded and developed I.W.A Style, a modern clothing line that highlights the beauty of Troso woven fabric, typical of Jepara Regency.
Izza's journey in the business world was not instant. Before diving into the garment industry, this final-semester student managed to gather initial capital of Rp3 million to Rp5 million from a nail art service she ran independently. Equipped with those savings and supported by her parents' background in the garment business, Izza began designing woven clothing with a touch of contemporary aesthetics.
One of the key strengths of I.W.A Style products lies in the choice of raw materials. Unlike typical Troso woven fabrics, the products made by Izza use 100 percent pure cotton fiber to guarantee maximum comfort and softness. The product range varies from shirts, skirts, scarves, shawls, to official uniforms, with prices adjusted according to the complexity of the patterns. Marketing of her products has now reached various regions outside Kudus, including Semarang, Banyuwangi, and Pandeglang.
Although her business activities have increased rapidly with the help of four employees, Izza still prioritizes her education. Currently, she is completing her final thesis and undergoing a hospital internship program. Interestingly, she allocates the profits from this fashion business specifically to purchase medical equipment in order to realize her dream of opening an independent nursing practice after completing her professional Nurse (Ners) education.
Izza's entrepreneurial achievements have also gained national recognition. Recently, she successfully won 2nd Place in the 2026 Studentpreneur Bootcamp in the Fashion Business category, a competition organized by the Muhammadiyah Center for Entrepreneurship and Business Incubator (MCEBI). This achievement has further elevated the name of I.W.A Style and generated many new orders from various regions.
