Head of the National Narcotics Board (BNN) of the Republic of Indonesia, Police Commissioner General Suyudi Ario Seto, highlighted the strategic role of sports as an instrument for building the character of state apparatus. According to him, active involvement in physical activities is not merely a competitive event, but a crucial means to cultivate discipline, integrity, and personal resilience when facing the threat of narcotics.

This statement was delivered during the opening of the 2026 National Police Chief (Kapolri) Cup Basketball Tournament, which is part of the series commemorating the 80th Anniversary of Bhayangkara. In his view, the philosophy of basketball—such as teamwork and rapid response—reflects the professionalism required of apparatus to protect the public and respond swiftly to various challenges.

Furthermore, the Head of BNN emphasized that this sports event, bringing together various ministries and agencies, serves as a platform to strengthen cross-sectoral synergy. Through collaboration on the court, it is hoped that a more harmonious and solid relationship among public servants will be created.

The tournament, running from July 1 to 14, 2026, features various categories, ranging from 5-on-5 to 3x3 formats. Involving participants from government agencies, communities, to high school students, the event is expected to spread the spirit of sportsmanship and unity to realize a resilient, clean, and drug-free Indonesia.
