Head of the Traffic Corps (Kakorlantas) of the Indonesian National Police, Police Inspector General Wibowo, officially emphasized the importance of the readiness of all ranks in responding to increasingly complex modern challenges. In his briefing in Jakarta on Monday (6/7/2026), he highlighted that the demographic dividend and technological acceleration will significantly impact operations and the image of the police in the traffic sector.
According to Insp. Gen. Wibowo, technology has become a crucial instrument for the public, but on the other hand, these developments carry risks such as the spread of false information (hoaxes) and provocative content. He warned his personnel to be prompt in filtering out negative opinions often formed by irresponsible parties to discredit the National Police in the public eye.
In addition to digital aspects, the challenge of the demographic dividend is also a major focus in creating a culture of road discipline. Insp. Gen. Wibowo noted that the reflection of a nation's civilization is mirrored in its people's traffic behavior, yet violations such as driving against the flow of traffic and sidewalk misuse are still frequent.
As a strategic measure, the Traffic Corps is committed to intensifying education, supervision, and humane yet firm law enforcement. This is expected to build collective public awareness in creating order amidst the dynamic tide of changing times.
It is worth noting that Insp. Gen. Wibowo recently took over the leadership of the National Police Traffic Corps after a handover ceremony in early July 2026. Previously, he served as the Director of Registration and Identification (Dirregident) of the Traffic Corps, a position that gave him deep insights into data management and public service in traffic management.
