The Ministry of Communication and Digital Affairs (Kemkomdigi) has established the strengthening of digital talent as a national priority agenda. This step was taken to ensure Indonesia can transform from merely a tech-consuming country into an active player capable of creating its own innovations amidst global digital economy competition.
Deputy Minister of Communication and Digital Affairs (Wamenkomdigi), Nezar Patria, emphasized that a nation's advantage in the modern era no longer depends solely on the availability of physical infrastructure. The quality of capable and innovative human resources is now the main determining variable in increasing the nation's competitiveness in the international market.
According to Nezar, the rapid development of artificial intelligence (AI) has drastically altered the industrial landscape. He stressed that Indonesia must strive to enter the technology creation value chain so as not to continuously rely on digital products developed by foreign parties.
To achieve this vision, Kemkomdigi has forged strategic collaborations with various universities through initiatives such as the AI Talent Factory. This program aims to equip the younger generation with technical competencies relevant to future industry needs and a deep understanding of global technology geopolitics.
Universities are expected to serve as primary incubators in producing high-quality digital talent. With synergy between higher education and the technology sector, Indonesia is optimistic about strengthening its national innovation ecosystem while enhancing its role on the global tech stage.
