The Symmetric Linear Acoustic Modulator (SLAM) technology, which is now a flagship feature in their devices, was actually born out of the engineering team's efforts to solve a product reliability issue, rather than a direct development of an audio feature.

Audeze's Chief Technical Officer, Dragoslav Colich, revealed that the initial development of SLAM aimed to mitigate air pressure inside the headphone cavity, which frequently caused diaphragm damage. By engineering precise air ducts integrated into the ear pad ring, the engineering team successfully created an escape path for excess pressure to keep internal components safe.

However, during testing, the team discovered a surprising acoustic phenomenon. Adjusting the shape and length of these air ducts proved to significantly affect low-frequency resonance. This 'accidental' discovery shifted the direction of development, allowing Audeze to perform high-precision sound tuning without significant additional costs.

As a result, SLAM now serves as a revolutionary dual-purpose solution. On one hand, it maintains device durability to prevent damage, while on the other, it enhances bass quality and the clarity of mid and high frequencies. This positive effect creates a more immersive listening experience for users.

Today, SLAM has been implemented across Audeze's flagship product lines, including the Maxwell gaming headset.
