The board of KONI Lampung has begun a deep mapping of the readiness of several sports branches in facing the Qualification Round (BK) of the National Sports Week (PON). This strategic step began with a series of coordination meetings involving administrators from various sports branches on Friday (3/7/2026).
Vice General Chairman II of KONI Lampung, Riagus Ria, stated that so far data synchronization has been carried out for six sports branches: cricket, soft tennis, billiards, rafting, kabaddi, and kempo. The meeting aimed to identify the actual condition of athletes and map the opportunities and obstacles faced by each branch.
Based on the coordination results, relatively uniform challenges were found across each sports branch, namely limited training facilities, less-than-ideal court facilities, and a lack of coaches and referees holding official licenses. These factors are considered the main obstacles in optimizing athlete development.
Responding to these issues, KONI Lampung is committed to taking concrete steps by prioritizing human resource quality improvement. One solution to be implemented immediately is facilitating training for nationally licensed coaches and referees, which is planned to be held directly in Lampung.
Riagus emphasized that this approach is part of a long-term strategy to ensure athlete development in Lampung is more targeted and highly competitive. By understanding field obstacles through priority scales, KONI Lampung is optimistic that preparations for BK PON can run more maximally and effectively.
