Jakarta once again witnessed the vibrant celebration of the 65th anniversary of the Army Strategic Reserve Command (Kostrad). Thousands of people gathered at the National Monument (Monas) area in Jakarta on Sunday morning, July 5, 2026, to take part in the 'Kostrad Run 2026' event. This event was not merely a ceremonial celebration, but a tangible manifestation of the Indonesian National Armed Forces' (TNI) commitment to promoting a healthy lifestyle and strengthening unity between the military and civilians.
The 5k and 10k running event was officially opened by the Coordinating Minister for Political and Security Affairs (Menkopolkam), General TNI (Ret.) Djamari Chaniago. In his remarks, he expressed high appreciation for the enthusiasm of the ten thousand participants present. General (Ret.) Djamari Chaniago also specifically emphasized to the organizing committee to record and monitor participants demonstrating impressive time records for future talent development.
Head of Kostrad Information, Colonel Arm. Asep Hendra Budiana, revealed that this event has a strategic mission to nurture the next generation of national runners. "We hope that through this competition, young talents will emerge who are capable of achieving success at national and international levels, while also building a fitter and more productive Indonesian society," he explained.
The grandeur of the event was further enriched by the presence of several high-ranking TNI officials, including Commander of Kostrad Lieutenant General TNI Mohammad Fadjar and the Chiefs of Staff of all three military branches. The presence of ministers from various sectors, including Coordinating Minister for Infrastructure and Regional Development Agus Harimurti Yudhoyono, added a prestigious dimension to the celebration.
In addition to offering a sporting event, the public gathered at the Silang Monas area was treated to an exhibition of modern Defense Equipment (Alutsista) such as Leopard, Astros, Caesar, and ATAV vehicles. The exhibition provided both educational value and a sense of pride for citizens regarding Indonesia's military strength. A marching band performance from the Defense University provided a delightful conclusion, enhancing the lively atmosphere and reflecting the TNI's closeness as the nation's vanguard in various aspects of national development.
