The West Kutai Regency Government has been officially designated as the host for the 12th East Kalimantan Province Appropriate Technology (TTG) Exhibition in 2026. The event, initiated by the East Kalimantan Province Community Empowerment and Village Government Agency (DPMPD), is scheduled to run for three days from July 21 to 23, 2026, at the Sendawar Cultural Park (TBS) in Barong Tongkok District.

The opening of this prestigious event was attended by local officials, including the Regent of West Kutai, Frederick Edwin, Vice Regent Nanang Adriani, and Regional Secretary Erik Victory. Also present were members of the Regional Leadership Coordination Forum (Forkopimda), heads of regional government agencies, Head of DPMPD of East Kalimantan Province Siti Sugiyanti, representatives from the banking sector, industry players, and government delegations from regencies and cities across East Kalimantan.

Regent of West Kutai, Frederick Edwin, emphasized that the Appropriate Technology Exhibition is not merely a ceremonial routine. According to him, this forum serves as an important platform to generate real innovations that directly address community needs. Appropriate technology is considered crucial in harmonizing the flow of modernization with local wisdom to boost public welfare in East Kalimantan.

Furthermore, Frederick explained that the strengthening of strategic sectors such as agriculture, plantations, fisheries, to Micro, Small, and Medium Enterprises (MSMEs) must be supported by technological innovation. This step is expected to optimize community productivity while strengthening the foundation of the regional economy based on local potential.

As the host, West Kutai is not only showcasing exhibitions of technological creativity but is also actively participating in various competition categories, ranging from appropriate technology creations to regional culinary specialties. This momentum is also being utilized to introduce the rich culture and tourist destinations of West Kutai to delegates from across East Kalimantan to strengthen inter-regional synergy.

Through this event, it is hoped that cross-regional collaboration in East Kalimantan can become even more solid. This synergy is targeted to drive the acceleration of highly competitive development and bring a direct positive impact on the prosperity of local communities.
