The board of the Indonesian Community Sports Committee (KORMI) of Palembang City for the 2026–2030 term was officially inaugurated. The inauguration ceremony was led directly by the General Chairperson of KORMI South Sumatra, H. Samantha Tivani, during an agenda that also opened the Regional Working Meeting (Rakerda) of KORMI Palembang City.
Mayor of Palembang, Ratu Dewa, emphasized that KORMI plays a vital role as a driving force for community fitness. According to him, recreational and traditional sports are not merely physical activities, but strategic instruments to strengthen social solidarity while preserving regional cultural identity.
"We encourage KORMI not to get trapped in ceremonial routines. This organization must be able to present innovations that directly touch the needs of citizens, as well as integrate Palembang City's local potential into every branch of community sports," said Ratu Dewa while giving directions to the new board on Thursday (9/7/2026).
Responding to these directions, Chairman of KORMI Palembang City, Zulfikar Muharrami, committed to building a collaborative organization. His team promised to embrace all Parent Sports Organizations (INORGA) to ensure that the formulated work programs are adaptive, measurable, and have a broad impact on the wider community.
H. Samantha Tivani added that KORMI carries a major responsibility to increase active community participation. Through the Rakerda held post-inauguration, the KORMI Palembang City management is expected to immediately establish strategic policies capable of making sports a lifestyle, as well as a supporting force for the tourism and creative economy sectors in Palembang over the next five years.
