After achieving brilliant success on the tennis court, Rafael Nadal is now shifting his focus toward building a promising business empire. Through his family holding company, Aspemir, the 22-time Grand Slam maestro is venturing into the hospitality, education, and sports sectors as part of his long-term vision beyond his professional athletic career.

One of Nadal's strategic moves is the expansion of the 'Zel Hotels' brand, a collaboration with Meliá Hotels International. Following successful property launches in Mallorca, Costa Brava, and Punta Cana, he has recently inaugurated his fourth hotel in Fuerteventura, Canary Islands. Nadal revealed that his years of experience staying in various hotels throughout his career served as the main inspiration for building facilities that pamper guests.

In the fields of education and sports, Nadal founded the Rafa Nadal Academy based in Mallorca back in 2016. This academy network has now expanded to several countries, including Mexico, Greece, and Hong Kong. His commitment to this business growth was demonstrated by selling a 44.9 percent stake in the academy to investment firm GPF Capital for 94 million euros in 2025, aimed at supporting a broader operational scale.

Nadal emphasized that his investments are not solely profit-oriented, but also address growing global awareness regarding health and well-being. He believes the principles he learned during his career as a professional tennis player—such as managing wins, accepting losses, and working in a team—are fundamental assets for navigating the highly competitive business world.

Facing a new chapter in his life post-hip surgery and retirement from tennis, Nadal expressed readiness to dedicate his energy to building a sustainable legacy. For him, the transition from athlete to entrepreneur is a challenge to be embraced with the same passion he brought when competing for trophies on clay courts.
