The search operation for two teenagers from Rejosari Hamlet, Krinjing Village, Watumalang District, Wonosobo Regency, has entered a crucial phase. Alfin Nurohmat (18) and Yufaidin (15) were reported missing while doing activities in the forest area of the Bismo Mountains, Dieng, and have shown no signs of their whereabouts as of the sixth day.
The two teenagers, known to be close friends, had previously said goodbye to their families to go fishing and look for birds in the forest area. Information from several local farmers confirmed that they were seen crossing the agricultural area towards the forest before they finally lost contact.
The families only realized the two victims were missing after they failed to return home for two consecutive days. The report was immediately followed up by village officials and authorities by organizing a large-scale search operation involving a total of 500 joint personnel from Basarnas (National Search and Rescue Agency), the military (TNI), the Police, as well as volunteers and the local community.
The Commander of the Wonosobo SAR Post, Widi, revealed that the main challenge in this operation is the extremely harsh forest terrain with dense vegetation and steep cliffs. To optimize results, the team has divided the search area into three Search and Rescue Units (SRUs) tasked with combing all climbing routes up to the vulnerable points around the location where the victims were last seen.
Amid these intensive search efforts, public sympathy continues to pour in, given that both victims are orphans. All parties now hope that the combing process will yield immediate results and the two teenagers will be found safe.
