Ahead of the 2026/2027 season, Persebaya Surabaya is taking progressive steps by strengthening the sport science system within the club's internal environment. The use of VALD technology has now become the primary instrument for comprehensively and accurately monitoring the physical condition and biomechanics of the players.
Persebaya's Operations Director, Candra Wahyudi, emphasized that investing in cutting-edge medical equipment is the club's commitment to protecting their valuable assets. According to him, a robust medical department supported by the right data ecosystem is the key to extending players' careers and accelerating the recovery process in the event of an injury.
Persebaya's Chief Medical Officer, dr. Pratama Wicaksana Wijaya, explained that this approach goes beyond standard medical procedures. Through VALD technology, the coaching and medical staff now obtain precise data on muscle strength, explosive power, and 3D movement analysis. This data serves as an objective reference for designing personalized training programs for each player.
The implemented devices include HumanTrak for movement efficiency, ForceDecks for neuromuscular analysis, and ForceFrame and NordBord to monitor muscle strength balance. Additionally, the SmartSpeed system is used to measure speed and agility performance instantly via wireless sensors.
Evaluations of the players' conditions are scheduled to take place periodically, specifically four to six times during a competition season. Not only for the senior squad, but this data-driven youth development standardization is also implemented across all levels, including the Persebaya Academy and Elite Pro Academy (EPA) as a long-term investment for the club's future.
