Ahead of National Children's Day on July 23, streaming platform Netflix officially held the "Netflix Family Festival 2026: World of Wonder" in Jakarta on Saturday (July 11). The event was designed as an interactive space bringing together families, creative industry players, and policymakers to celebrate the essence of inspiring children's stories.
Director of Global Affairs Southeast Asia at Netflix, Ruben Hattari, stated that the festival is not merely entertainment, but a strategic step to bring children closer to their favorite characters in person. Furthermore, the event serves as a platform for parents to learn more about digital safety features, ensuring a safer and more positive viewing experience for their children.
On the occasion, Deputy Minister of Communication and Digital Affairs, Nezar Patria, expressed appreciation for Netflix's initiative. According to him, this collaboration is highly relevant to the government's efforts to strengthen child protection in the digital space through existing regulations. Education regarding parental controls and age ratings is a crucial point for parents to be wiser in filtering content for their families.
In addition to providing entertainment such as sing-along sessions and interactive games at the Netflix Playground, the festival also served as a stage for the development of the nation's creative industry. Through the "Cerita Anak Nusantara" program, Netflix partnered with APROFI and the Indonesian Film Board to equip local creators with technical skills through dedicated masterclasses to produce high-quality children's content.
The festival concluded with an educational discussion on parenting in the digital era with parenting experts, as well as the premiere screening of the film "Aku Sebelum Aku" by Gina S. Noer. With a blend of education, creator empowerment, and entertainment, Netflix hopes to continue being a partner for families in delivering content that not only entertains but also strengthens emotional bonds among family members.
