Deputy Coordinating Minister for Law, Human Rights, Immigration, and Correctional Services, Otto Hasibuan, emphasized that establishing legal certainty for medical personnel is a crucial foundation for improving the quality of national healthcare services. This was conveyed during the Inauguration and Working Meeting of the Central Board of PDUI and KDI for the 2026-2029 period in Jakarta on Saturday (27/6).
According to Otto, the protection of the medical profession is inseparable from the efforts to fulfill the public's right to receive quality medical services. With a clear legal framework in place, healthcare workers are expected to work with greater peace of mind, which ultimately impacts the improvement of patient safety standards in line with the adage salus populi suprema lex esto, or the safety of the people is the supreme law.
Furthermore, Otto highlighted the importance of synergy between the government, professional organizations, and related institutions in maintaining constitutional balance. He referred to Constitutional Court Decisions Number 111/PUU-XXII/2024 and Number 182/PUU-XXII/2024 as strategic milestones in building a more transparent and accountable healthcare governance system through checks and balances mechanisms.
