The Regency Government (Pemkab) of Gunung Mas, Central Kalimantan, has officially expressed its readiness to facilitate the community in a public viewing (nobar) event for the 2026 World Cup final match. This event will be centered at Kuala Kurun City Park as a public space for residents wishing to watch the climax of the prestigious football tournament.
Regent of Gunung Mas, Jaya S Monong, revealed that this initiative follows up on a call from the Ministry of Home Affairs (Kemendagri) to regional governments across Indonesia. The instruction aims to provide entertainment for the public while stimulating local economic growth through MSME business activities, such as culinary vendors and football merchandise.
"We welcome this directive positively. I have instructed the Head of the Education, Youth, and Sports Department (Disdikpora) of Gunung Mas Regency to prepare all technical requirements at Kuala Kurun City Park so that the event runs smoothly and warmly," said Jaya S Monong on Monday (13/7/2026).
The climax of the 2026 World Cup final match is scheduled to take place on Monday, July 20, 2026, at 02:00 WIB. The organizers urge residents to start gathering at the viewing location from 01:30 WIB. Regent Jaya hopes this momentum serves not only as entertainment, but also as a means to strengthen ties among residents in the land of Bumi Habangkalan Penyang Karuhei Tatau.
