The Serang Regency Government is striving to provide peace of mind to tourists currently enjoying their school holidays. The Vice Regent of Serang, Muhammad Najib Hamas, firmly assured that the coastal areas of Anyer and Cinangka remain conducive and safe to visit, even though Mount Anak Krakatau (GAK) is currently at Level III (Alert) status.
This assurance was delivered by Najib following a direct inspection of the Mount Anak Krakatau Volcano Observation Post in Pasauran Village, Cinangka District, on Sunday (5/7/2026). During the visit, Najib was accompanied by the Serang Regency BPBD, local sub-district officials, and PHRI representatives to verify the latest volcanic activity through monitoring binoculars.
Najib also highlighted the widespread misinformation circulating on social media regarding video footage of a massive eruption of Mount Anak Krakatau. He emphasized that the video was edited or a hoax that does not reflect actual field conditions. "The mountain's activity currently tends to be declining and has no significant impact on the tourist area. People do not need to worry about vacationing in Anyer or Cinangka," he said.
Echoing this sentiment, an officer from the Mount Anak Krakatau Observation Post, Deny Mardiono, explained that although tremors are still detected, Mount Anak Krakatau is located at a safe distance of about 42 kilometers from the Anyer and Cinangka tourist areas. According to him, eruption materials only have the potential to reach a three-kilometer radius from the center of the volcano's activity, ensuring that the tourist areas are outside the danger zone.
The volcanology authorities urged the public to always refer to official information channels, such as the Magma Indonesia application or the official PVMBG website, for the latest reports every six hours. The public is asked not to be easily influenced by unverified news to maintain the stability of the local tourism sector.
