The Sukabumi Regency Government held intensive coordination with the West Java Province Universal Health Coverage (UHC) Acceleration Team at the Sukabumi Regency Pendopo on Tuesday (7/7/2026). The meeting, led by the Regional Secretary of Sukabumi Regency, Ade Suryaman, focused on mapping strategic steps to ensure all residents gain access to quality and affordable healthcare services.
In his directive, Ade Suryaman acknowledged that the local government faces significant fiscal challenges following a series of natural disasters throughout 2024 and 2025. Damage to thousands of homes across 36 districts has strained the regional budget, impacting the funding allocation for BPJS Kesehatan premium contributions for residents in need.
Nevertheless, the local government remains firm in its commitment to seeking alternative solutions. Cross-sector collaboration is key, with the Sukabumi Regency Government engaging the private sector through Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) programs to bridge the health insurance funding gap.
The Head of the Population and Civil Registration Office of West Java Province, Berli Hamdani Gelung Sakti, highlighted the vital aspect of population data collection. He emphasized that accurate demographic data serves as the main foundation to ensure that National Health Insurance (JKN) premium assistance is targeted effectively and without distortion.
Echoing these remarks, Head of the Sukabumi Branch of BPJS Kesehatan, Nora D. Manurung, instructed the need for periodic validation of participant data. As a concrete step, a joint technical team from various regional agencies will immediately draft supporting regulations, make budget adjustments through an addendum, and finalize the private sector involvement scheme to achieve the UHC target set by the central government.
