The Jakarta Metropolitan Police (Polda Metro Jaya) is intensifying its investigation into allegations of corruption and money laundering involving strategic sectors, including PLN's coal management, PT Asabri, and Krakatau Steel. In the ongoing process, investigators have questioned at least 15 witnesses, including Tan Kian, a prominent property tycoon known as the owner of the Pacific Place integrated area in Jakarta.
The Head of Public Relations of Polda Metro Jaya, Senior Commissioner Budi Hermanto, confirmed that the examination of Tan Kian was conducted in his capacity as a witness. This step is a follow-up to a series of raids conducted at 13 different locations since early July 2026, spanning South Jakarta to Sentul, Bogor.
The results of the raids revealed a large-scale asset seizure. In Cipete, South Jakarta, the investigation team secured cash in various foreign currencies and rupiah totaling IDR 67 billion. Meanwhile, at a residence in Sentul, Bogor, officers found cash amounting to IDR 476 billion as well as precious metals in the form of gold bars weighing 74 kilograms.
To complete the legal construction of this case, the police are currently coordinating with the National Land Agency (BPN) to verify land asset data. In addition, investigators are also gathering information from PT Sentul City Tbk as the developer of the area to trace the legality and origin of the seized wealth.
Tan Kian himself is a central figure in the Indonesian property business through Century Properties Group Indonesia. The company is known as a high-end developer managing a number of prestigious portfolios, ranging from office buildings in Jakarta's central business district to luxury properties such as JW Marriott and The Ritz-Carlton. His extensive business footprint makes this questioning one of the main highlights in the law enforcement agenda related to corporate corruption cases today.
