Technology development has now become a major pillar in realizing a just and equitable energy transition in Indonesia. This step is considered crucial for aligning the 2060 Net Zero Emission (NZE) target with the achievement of the 2030 Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), while ensuring social welfare stability and workforce readiness in the green industry era.

The urgency of implementing environmentally friendly technology emerged in a workshop titled "The Future of Just Energy Transition in Indonesia: Ensuring No Worker is Left Behind" held at the MERR-C Campus Rectorate Building of Universitas Airlangga (UNAIR). The scientific forum was the result of a strategic collaboration between the International Labour Organization (ILO) Indonesia and the UNAIR SDGs Center.

Tahta Amrillah PhD, a lecturer at the Faculty of Advanced and Multidisciplinary Technology (FTMM) UNAIR, who was a speaker at the event, emphasized that the energy transition must not be separated from the SDGs 2030 roadmap. According to him, all targets within the SDGs are interconnected to create development that balances social, economic, and environmental preservation in a sustainable manner.

Indonesia has vast modalities with abundant natural resources and tropical forests that function as carbon sinks. However, this ecological potential must be optimized with a touch of modern technology so that the pace of national economic development remains in line with climate change mitigation efforts.

Various technological breakthroughs ready to support this transition include the utilization of solar, wind, hydrogen, biomass, and geothermal energy. The implementation of environmental monitoring systems, carbon capture technology, and green material innovations in the mining, agriculture, and manufacturing sectors are also being promoted to reduce emissions and save energy.

Nevertheless, the success of this transformation requires the readiness of a human resource (HR) pool that is adaptive to green industries. Cross-sector collaboration involving the government, academia, industry players, and the community is the main key to ensuring that the benefits of this energy transition are felt inclusively without leaving any group of workers behind.
