The Governor of Bali conducted a working visit to the United Kingdom to expand international networks in the sectors of education, research, and digital technology innovation. This visit aims to integrate global potential to support sustainable development in the Island of the Gods.
During his visit to Oxford University, the Governor of Bali was warmly welcomed by the Indonesian diaspora community, including students and academics from Bali. This meeting was not only an occasion to connect, but also a momentum to discuss strategic collaboration opportunities in technology transfer and human resource enhancement through knowledge transfer from the world-class university.
On the sidelines of his visit, the Governor outlined various policies of the Bali Provincial Government regarding sustainable development, such as the utilization of clean energy and environmental management aligned with the global agenda. Bali's commitment to addressing climate change challenges received a positive response from Oxford academics, who deemed the policy direction relevant to international net-zero emission targets.
Moving beyond education, the delegation also visited Google's office in London to explore the potential of leveraging Artificial Intelligence (AI). In a discussion with Indonesian AI researcher Adhiguna Kuncoro, various opportunities for implementing digital technology were explored to strengthen the tourism sector, cultural governance, and local economic empowerment.
This visit underscores the Bali Provincial Government's strategic steps toward digital transformation. The Governor emphasized that mastering cutting-edge technology is crucial for Bali to compete on the global stage, without marginalizing the values of local cultural identity, which serve as the primary foundation of regional development.
