President of the Republic of Indonesia Prabowo Subianto warmly welcomed Singaporean Prime Minister Lawrence Wong to the Leaders’ Retreat held at Merdeka Palace, Jakarta, on Monday (6/7/2026). This high-level meeting served as a crucial momentum for both countries to reaffirm their commitment to collaboration in facing increasingly challenging global economic dynamics.

The tangible results of the bilateral meeting culminated in the signing of 26 cooperation documents, consisting of 18 government-to-government memoranda of understanding (MoUs) and eight business-to-business (B2B) agreements. This step underscores a shift in the orientation of bilateral relations from conventional trade toward future economic integration based on innovation.

The main focus of this collaboration includes accelerating the clean energy transition and digital transformation. Both nations agreed to develop renewable energy infrastructure, including a solar energy project in Morowali as well as a roadmap for cross-border electricity trading. In the technology sector, strategic collaboration is manifested through the development of digital infrastructure and the use of artificial intelligence (AI) as a trade advisor for business operators.

In addition to economic aspects, environmental issues and resilience were crucial pillars of discussion. Jakarta and Singapore agreed on carbon credit collaboration to support emission reductions in accordance with the Paris Agreement, and signed a Joint Statement on supply chain resilience. These mitigation steps aim to protect both countries from future geopolitical disruptions and international trade interferences.

President Prabowo emphasized that this partnership must deliver concrete impacts on the welfare of people in both countries. Entering a new chapter approaching six decades of diplomatic relations, this collaboration is projected to become the backbone of regional stability while strengthening Indonesia's and Singapore's positions as key drivers of economy and technology in Southeast Asia.
