Perhutani Forest Management Unit (KPH) Kedu Utara continues to intensify social communication with various stakeholders to preserve the forest ecosystem. The latest strategic step was taken through a coordination meeting with the managers of the Mount Sindoro Hiking Basecamp via Sigedang, Tambi Village, Wonosobo Regency, on Sunday (5/7).
The main focus of this synergy includes raising hiker safety standards, maintaining trail cleanliness, and strictly monitoring activities in the Sigedang Forest Management Resort (RPH) area. Beyond operational aspects, both parties reaffirmed their joint commitment to mitigating the risk of forest and land fires (karhutla) through continuous education for tourists.
Head of BKPH Wonosobo, Naufal Rafif, emphasized that this field collaboration is crucial given that basecamp managers are the front liners interacting directly with visitors. According to him, intensive communication is key to anticipating potential obstacles on the hiking trail early on, ensuring the forest's role as an ecosystem buffer is maintained amid the growing eco-tourism trend.
Echoing these sentiments, a representative of the Sigedang Basecamp management, Mualimin, expressed readiness to comply with regulations set by Perhutani. His side is committed to continuing to educate hikers to follow rules, maintain regional sanitation, and avoid actions that could harm the environment or trigger fire hazards.
Through this increasingly close partnership, Perhutani is optimistic that the future management of Mount Sindoro hiking tourism will be safer and more sustainable. This synergy is expected to balance the economic potential for local communities with the long-term preservation of the forest's ecological functions.
