As 2026 approaches, preparations for the grand event of the 10th Provincial Sports Festival are now entering a crucial phase. Scheduled to take place between July 15 and mid-September, the event will serve as a stage for 18 sports, featuring a mix of modern disciplines like football and pickleball, alongside traditional sports such as chess and martial arts.
A grand opening ceremony is planned for August 18 at Nguyen Van Linh Square, with an estimated attendance of 5,000 spectators. The organizing committee has strategically designed the competition schedule to maintain public enthusiasm throughout all stages of the event, while providing recovery time for athletes to perform at their peak.
On the other hand, the athlete selection process has been conducted in stages starting from the grassroots level. Various regional clusters, including Cluster V which covers Pho Hien and its surroundings, have begun intensive training programs. The main focus of this training is to improve physical fitness and technical mastery, preparing competitive teams to represent their regions at the provincial and national levels.
The provincial government, through the Department of Culture, Sports, and Tourism, is also undertaking massive infrastructure upgrades. Several gymnasiums and main stadiums in the Pho Hien and Tran Hung Dao districts are undergoing renovations to meet national technical standards. Additionally, the optimization of non-public sports facilities is being carried out to ensure the availability of adequate and flexible competition venues.
Beyond technical aspects and facilities, the organizers are ensuring that the entire series of events—from the torch relay to colossal art performances—is designed to reflect local cultural identity. With a strict security system and integrated healthcare facilities, this festival is expected to be not just a high-performance competition, but also a strategic momentum to promote a sports culture among the wider community while strengthening the province's position on the national sports map.
