President Prabowo Subianto strictly instructed all regional heads, from governors, regents, sub-district heads, to village chiefs, to closely monitor the implementation of the Free Nutritious Meal (MBG) program. The main focus of this supervision is directed at the operations of the Nutrition Fulfillment Service Centers (SPPG) or community kitchens, which serve as the spearhead of nutrition distribution for Indonesian children.
In his speech, the President acknowledged indications of unscrupulous individuals attempting to seek personal gain or commit corruption in the implementation of this strategic program. Therefore, he authorized regional officials to conduct unannounced inspections of MBG kitchens and immediately report any findings of irregularities to the Head of the National Nutrition Agency or directly to the President.
In addition to involving regional government officials, the President also invited the active involvement of law enforcement agencies, such as the TNI (Indonesian National Armed Forces) and Polri (Indonesian National Police), to help monitor the program's progress. However, he issued a stern warning that this supervision must not be misused as an opportunity for extortion or demanding payoffs from kitchen operators, emphasizing that the public is now much more critical and well-informed.
This preventive measure was taken as a government commitment to ensure that every portion of food reaches children with guaranteed quality. President Prabowo emphasized that the MBG program is a national priority to realize a healthy generation, free from stunting and hunger, and as an effort to build a more prosperous Indonesia in the future.
